Abbeyfield Clinton needs members for it’s non-profit society.

Abbeyfield Clinton is a reality, but is in need of a group of people, helping us with getting our dream come through and develop a small community for retired people, with a Village Courtyard to add an Independent Living concept to our main building. We hope that some interested developers with a vision and enthusiasm will be contacting us. We made a plan to build this Courtyard from strawbales, with solar panels and Geothermal heating, to be independent from Hydro and fuels.

Abbeyfield Houses Society is worldwide organization, catering to seniors not requiring assistance, in giving them an affordable home with security, company and meals

This Abbeyfield Society started in England, more than 50 years ago and is now spread worldwide, with 30 houses in Canada, 22 of them in BC.
Most houses are on property donated to the Society, and build with help from private donors, fundraising events, and with mortgages supplied by CMHC, governed by a Board of Directors, and assisted with the help of dedicated volunteers.

Abbeyfield Clinton has a house, but cannot possibly function and succeed, without a dedicated Board of Directors, and volunteers.

An information meeting is held on Thursday, June 25th at 7:00 PM, at Abbeyfield Clinton, 115 Cariboo Hwy 97, 59 Mile.

We sincerely hope that individuals and groups are willing to help us succeed.

We need some help promoting our Home for seniors. If everything goes right in the next few days, we will be called: Abbeyfield Houses Society of Clinton. We are located in a rural area, on Hwy 97, 20 Km north of Clinton BC.
We believe that there are lonesome seniors "out there", who would prefer to live outside the city.
The Abbeyfield Society is a non profit, International society, caring for elderly people in a friendly, comfortable setting, where they will maintain their freedom and privacy, but will have their meals provided at an affordable rate.
Abbeyfield Clinton's rate is $900.00 per month, single, $1,500.00 for a couple.
We have room for 8 people, some rooms are furnished, but our guests are welcome to furnish their room, if they prefer. A large room will be used for relatives or friends. Several sitting rooms, a hobby room, and a woodworking shop available for our guests.
We need still a lot of landscaping done,( 4-3/4 acres, we have the rocks) we hope that some of our local service clubs will provide some of the labour, and we welcome donations of perenials and shrubs. 250-459-2755

We at DMH PR Inc. are the Community Partner for the Canadian Youth Business Foundation (CYBF). The CYBF is a national charity providing start-up mentoring, financing and business resources for young Canadians, aged 18-34, to create their own successful businesses.

CYBF offers young entrepreneurs the opportunity to pursue their dream business with financing and access to experienced and knowledgeable mentors based on their character and strong business ideas rather than collateral. CYBF is an organization that is helping to drive the Canadian economy by leading the future development of youth entrepreneurship both domestically and internationally. CYBF Programs also help to prevent outward migration of youth from Canadian communities.

CYBF Community Partners represent the face and voice of CYBF. They assist CYBF to deliver its programs using their knowledge of local economic conditions. Their personal interaction with the young entrepreneurs pro-vides support and relevant funding recommendations to CYBF.

Community Partners also assist in identifying entrepreneurs and recruiting leaders of the business community to become mentors, serve on the local volunteer-based Loan Review Committees (LRC) and provide coordi-nated sponsorships to let youth know about the programs and how CYBF can help them to get into and suc-ceed in business for self.

If you are an entrepreneur between the ages fo 18-34 and live in our service area:

All of Simcoe County
Newmarket
Collingwood and parts of Bruce Grey
The District of Muskoka

and are looking for financing or help open a business go to www.CYBFinSimcoeCounty.ca

If you would liek to get involved as a mentor or a member of our Loan Committee please contact DMH PR at cybf@dmhpr.ca

It is most impressive that MBN has assumed a proactive role in support of registered Canadian charities.
I have been a long time member and past director of Rare Breeds Canada. RBC is a small group with a very responsible role of promoting and protecting the welfare of both Canadian threatened breeds of Domestic Livestock and Heritage Poultry as well as World Wide parallel interests.
Opportunities to create awareness and gain support are ever more difficult to achieve in tight times. Every bit of help is most appreciated. Their web site is http://www.rarebreedscanada.ca

Over the years Stepping Stone Farm has been the home to Newfoundland Ponies and Horned Dorset Sheep via an RBC custodial program. Irish Dexter Cattle, Cotswold and Navajo Churro Sheep, Large Black and Berkshire Pigs and numerous breeds of heritage poultry. This is only a small representation of the challenged breeds. Check out the RBC web site. You may be surprised that the 'at risk' factor is far greater than the Wild species which often get much greater interest by the general public.

Useful Site: CanadaHelps.org

About Canada Helps:
CanadaHelps, a public charitable foundation (896568417RR0001), is Canada's only donation portal that provides access to all of Canada's 80,000 charities, from national organizations like national cancer charities to smaller groups like local animal shelters and soup kitchens.

CanadaHelps knows just how important donors are to charities (as we are a charity ourselves), and how important the charities are to the donors that support them. But today, donors in Canada have unique needs and desires, as all donors are not created equal. No matter what type of charitable donor you might be, CanadaHelps can accommodate all your giving needs.

For donors, CanadaHelps.org simplifies the donating process, making it easy, quick and secure. On any pages where you share personal information or perform financial transactions, CanadaHelps.org encrypts your data using Secure Socket Layers (SSL), allowing you to send and receive information without the worry of having it intercepted. Put simply, donors go online, select as many charities as they wish, make their donation and receive a tax receipt for each donation immediately.

For charities, CanadaHelps.org provides a cost effective alternative to setting up their own online donations facilities: there is no set up fee, no annual charges and charities receive immediate notification when a donation is received. Charities are only charged when a donation is actually made, thereby ensuring a charity is not paying for a service that is not being used.

Recognizing the benefits of online giving to both donors and charities, CanadaHelps launched its first website in 2000. Today, more than five years later, CanadaHelps facilitates over $10 million in donations to Canadian charities annually.

PS do you have "social enterprise" companies in Canada? they're relatively new here, I was thinking of starting one, rather than use my current Ltd company.

well, we'll be going down the affiliate route to start with. Amazon, barefoot books, that kind of thing. I import wooden toys from Germany already, so can add them in, and will be able to use 20% of retail price for our projects. I haven't looked at it properly for ages, with the recession we've been having, but I'm getting all enthused again now!

Excellent news Lorena - don't forget to tell us more about it in the future

I had started, with a couple of friends, a website that we use to exchange ideas, support and chat. We're now ready to start making money from it, to give to projects around the world. So this new group is a timely addition to muchmor for me!
